Radiological Safety Training
More than 4,000 radiological workers and 400 Radiological Control Technicians (RCTs) involved in the Hanford Nuclear Reservation's environmental cleanup mission have training at HAMMER for the past 10 years.
Transportation Training
Training is provided for hazardous material (HAZMAT) employees as defined in the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Title 49, Parts 100-185. Training focuses on general awareness, function-specific, safety and security aspects of hazardous material transportation.
Hoisting and Rigging
Hoisting and rigging training is provided for personnel who have the following hoisting and rigging responsibilities that involve the use of aerial lifts, forklifts, and/or cranes.
Lockout/Tagout
The control of hazardous energy ranked as one of the top 10 most frequently cited standards and ranked as one of the top 10 for highest penalties in fiscal year 2008, according to data from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Electrical Safety
A wide variety of training is available for those whose work involves electrical safety, OSHA, and environmental safety.
Emergency Preparedness
The Emergency Preparedness HAMMER/Hanford Training Program provides for the instruction and qualification of personnel who compose the Hanford Site Emergency Response Organization (ERO) to include both initial and annual refresher training.
HAZWOPER
Workers keep other workers safe. Worker Trainers from all major contractors at the Hanford Site share their expertise and knowledge while instructing their co-workers. These workers, when not in the classroom, serve as mentors for their peers as they work side-by-side with them in the workplace.
Respiratory
Sometimes, the only thing between a Hanford worker and a serious injury or death is a face mask and personal protective equipment. Learning the consequences of using an improperly-selected of poorly-fitted respirator or of removing a respirator too soon is vital to keeping workers safe.
